Steersons Steakhouse

Steersons Steakhouse sits at 17 Lime Street on King Street Wharf, with its dining room on the water and a row of tables along the full height windows.

The kitchen works to a stated idea, Salt, Fire, Water: premium Australian beef, seafood and seasonal produce, cooked over open flame. Their own photography shows beef ribs and whole ducks hanging in glass fronted ageing cabinets on the floor of the restaurant, which tells you where the attention goes. Around the steaks there is Australian seafood, seasonal dishes, shared plates and a bar menu, so a table can graze across plates rather than commit to a main each.

Who it suits: business lunches, long lunches that drift into the afternoon, and dinners where the steak is the point. The wine list leans Australian with international bottles alongside, and some of the more expensive bottles are poured by the glass through Coravin, which is the difference between reading a wine list and actually drinking from it. There is a whisky collection and a cocktail list too, and a bar menu if you only want a snack with a drink.

Hours and booking

Lunch and dinner are separate sittings Monday to Friday and again on Sunday, and Saturday is dinner only, with no lunch sitting published. Sunday dinner finishes half an hour earlier than the rest of the week. The exact daily times are in the details above and come from the venue’s own site. Reservations run through the booking widget on their site, which takes tables of up to twelve; for anything larger they ask you to phone or send a functions enquiry. Functions and events

Steersons publishes three function formats: semi private outside dining for 18 seated, semi private inside dining for 40 to 55 seated, and venue exclusive for 120 seated, across indoor and outdoor waterfront spaces.
