About
Mecca Bah is the Middle Eastern and North African room at Shop 5, 32-34 The Promenade, King Street Wharf.
The kitchen works the Moroccan and Levantine end of the map: tagines, grilled meats and dips built for the middle of the table. It is share food by design, which makes the ordering easy with a group and pointless alone. Among the wharf’s restaurants it fills the seat between the seafood houses and the pubs, richer flavours, softer light, and a pace set for a long dinner rather than a fast one.
It suits groups of three or more who order for the table, and it is the strip’s best answer when half the party wants something more interesting than fish and chips and nobody wants to leave the water.
Hours, and mind the Sunday
Open Monday to Friday from 11am, closing 9pm early in the week and 10:30pm Friday. Saturday it opens with extended hours, and Sunday it is closed, which catches people out on the wharf’s busiest walking day. If your plan is Sunday lunch on the Promenade, this is the one kitchen on the strip that will not be in it; Jordon’s next door will be.
Getting there
It sits mid Promenade in the same run as Jordon’s Seafood. Park at Shelley Street or Sun Parking on Sussex Street, evening flat rate after 5pm, and find it on the precinct map.
Next door: Jordon’s Seafood for the wharf’s fish, or browse all restaurants.
